It felt as though her bones were going to rip their way through her flesh, and her muscles squirmed beneath her skin like live things. Chapter 2: Escape
Róis barely heard the tread of feet on hard-packed dirt before Alistair was shifting beside her. He moved so fast that even Róis, with her highly-advanced eyes, barely saw him step forward, hands reaching out to twist the unsuspecting guard’s head sharply to the side. With an audible sound, the guard’s neck snapped like a twig. He slumped in a pile at their feet as Alistair let him fall, as if suddenly asleep. Róis quivered- the guard hadn’t even had enough time to cry out.
